View of an interior room at the British Consulate in Damascus. Patterned sofas line the edges of the room, interspersed with chairs and smaller tables, and rugs cover the floor. The room is decorated with ornate mosaics in scrolling and geometric patterns, painted landscapes and city scenes, scrolling patterns in relief, and arched recesses. Jugs and vases of different sizes and shapes line the recessed shelves of the room. The large door and window panels are covered with patterns and figures in relief.
