From the Getty Museum record
Print after a daguerreotype. View of the entrance to the Bibliothèque du Roi at the Louvre. A white picket fence bridges the entranceway which is demarcated by double fluted columns on either side. The columns are covered with ornate, decorative relief and topped with equally decorative friezes. Behind the white picket fence, which is propped open on one side, a tall wrought iron fence is visible. Behind the wrought iron fence is a verdent courtyard. A man and a dog face the entrance at image left. The man writes or draws in a journal, while the dog sits patiently at his side.
