Three Fragments from an Attic Black-Figure Calyx Krater

Three fragments with various figures, perhaps part of the same scene. The largest fragment (75.AE.14.a) comes from a central region of the krater and preserves the lower half of a draped figure mounting a chariot, a vine branch, and the tails of two horses. A slightly smaller fragment (75.AE.14.b), also from the central region, preserves a high stepping draped figure and a large leafy vine branch. These two fragments, both triangular shaped, may be part of the same scene, the high stepping youth proceeding or following the chariot, and the vine branches suggesting the presence of Dionysos. The third fragment (75.AE.14.c), an elongated rectangular shape, comes from the upper region of the krater, with a large border (a double ivy patter with a wavy red center line) and head of a youth playing the auolos (double flute) preserved.
