Group portrait of a large number of people, mostly men and children, posing in front of a "rumah gadang," the traditional residence of the Minangkabau people. It features a number of "gonjong" or horn-like curved elements of the roof. Other smaller but similarly designed buildings, possibly "rangkiang" or rice barns, can be seen nearby. One of the men stands next to a water buffalo in the foreground, while nearby, two Caucasian men dressed in military uniforms lie on their sides on the ground.
