This unusually shaped vessel copies the form of a maiolica drug jar. It was probably originally part of a larger service of similar or identical vessels, since a matching vessel is today in a London private collection. The arms on the front are those of three brothers who each became the bishop of Freising, Germany, in the first half of the 1500s. On the reverse side, the Agnus Dei emblem refers to the bishop's responsibilities.
