View of a section of the Shanghai Bund, as seen from the balcony of a western-style building. A wide promenade separates the building from the river where a number of boats can be seen. The promenade is lined on either side with leafless trees. Two rickshaw runners and their rickshaws are on the side of the promenade on the lower left area of the image, as another can be seen further up the street.
