Many wooden objects were decorated with inlaid glass. An example is this fragment of a piece of furniture from Tebtynis, in the oasis of Fayum, dating from the late Ptolemaic Period. Glass inlays were a typically Egyptian art. They were used to decorate objects of wood or stone. Boxes with inlaid glass pictures became widespread from the end of the Late Period onward.
