Anubis statuette

Standing figure of Anubis, striding with left leg forward. The ears are large and triangular. The head is proportionate, with an elongated muzzle. The god wears a tripartite wig decorated with vertical striations. The right arm is broken, though it can be inferred that it was bent across the chest, with the hand grasping an object, possibly a nekhekh-sceptre or a lotus flower. The left arm is along the body, with the hand clenched into a fist. The god wears a long kilt with a belt, decorated with a herringbone pattern. The figure stands on a rectangular base, inscribed on the front and right sides. A square-section tenon, tapering towards the end, projects from the underside of the base. The object is made in the lost-wax technique for solid casts. Dimensions: 2.5 cm x 10 cm x 4 cm. Museum location: Not on display. Image views available: 6.
