This late work by Giulio Campagnola was unfinished when he died. It was completed by his adopted son, Domenico, who assisted his father’s business in Venice. The landscape on the right half of the sheet is by Giulio. The delicate tonalities are achieved by a variety of thin curved and straight lines and delicate stippling, a technique Giulio invented that was not easily copied. The musicians on the left side were engraved by Domenico, who used a more traditional style and heavier, wider linework.
