This print probably represents Winter, one of the Four Seasons Natoire etched that were advertised in the Mercure de France in 1735. These prints are all that remain to document four paintings on wood commissioned for the chateau of La Chapelle-Godefroy: confiscated during the Revolution, three of the oils, including Winter, were lost in a fire in 1814 of the chateau of Pont-sur-Seine, the residence of Laetitia Bonaparte; the fourth panel has since been lost.
