This lace fragment depicts King Charles II of Spain, who ascended to the throne in 1665 at the age of three. An inscription below the figure reads CA SECO REX HPA. There are pieces of this same lace in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (T.26-1949), the Royal Museum of Art and History, Brussels (inv. 3269), and the TextilMuseum, St. Gallen, Switzerland (inv. 00696).
