This square handkerchief is made of piña fiber cloth in plain weave. All four edges are finished with a hand-embroidered cotton border of small repeating floral motifs. One corner bears the embroidered monogram “L. C. H.,” the initials of its first owner, Lilian Converse Hanna. Sallie Perkins (Mrs. Jacob B. Perkins) gifted this handkerchief to Lilian Converse Hanna (Mrs. S. Prentiss Baldwin) before the latter’s marriage in 1898.
