On the twenty-third of fifty-two nights, Tuti the wise, talking parrot tells Khujasta the story of Kamjuy the wife of a raja, a group of laughing fish, and a boy who was born without a father. A stool painted beneath Khujasta’s feet negates the appearance that she is floating. The parrot’s cage was originally painted gold.
