On the thirty-fourth of fifty-two nights, Tuti the wise parrot tells Khujasta two fantastical stories. The first is about the daughter of a merchant who was saved from an evil fairy by her many suitors. The second features the daughter of a raja who witnessed the miraculous resurrection of her dead husband and his friend. A small cord around the parrot’s legs keeps him anchored to his cage.
