A more rare example of the Oxford Triple Unite, this piece is struck on a slightly smaller flan or planchet than 1969.195 . Until his capture the King's headquarters remained at Oxford, and the OXON below the date denotes the place of striking. The king is shown at half length and is crowned. He holds a sword and olive branch with a plume behind him. On the reverse is Psalm 68, "Let God arise and His enemies be scattered." The Triple Unite, valued at three pounds, was only produced during the English Civil War between 1642 and 1644.
