Pate sur pate or 'paste on paste' is a decorative technique for porcelain that involves painting primarily white clay slips on a dark background. After each layer has dried, successive layers are applied before being scraped and carved back to form the decoration in low relief. W. T. Copeland was a British businessman and politician who served as Lord Mayor of London and a Member of Parliament.
