The motif in the central medallion of this large dish depicts a knotted pine tree on the right with branches of pine needles forming triangular shapes resembling mountains in a distant landscape. Above and below the branches are three cloud bands in alternating light and dark washes of cobalt blue. In the foreground, a small blooming orchid reaches toward the left of the dish, balancing the gentle sway of the pine tree.
