Although Macedon was conquered by Rome in 168 BC, its mints continued to produce Hellenistic-style coinage. The obverse of this coin shows Artemis, identifiable by her bow and quiver, centered within an ornate Macedonian shield. On the reverse, a club is enclosed by a wreath and an inscription ascribing this coin to the first region of the Roman client state. Three monograms around the border of the reverse identify officials responsible for producing this coin.
