Gian Lorenzo Bernini was an Italian sculptor, urban planner, architect, painter, set designer, and playwright during the Renaissance. He designed many churches, monuments, and the canopy over the high altar at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Naples was a center of medal and coinage minting for several centuries in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
