As she had earlier investigated the many currents in painting, Florence Henri ingeniously pursued the possibilities of photography. In addition to experimenting with a mirror's ability to fracture, multiply, and redefine the planes of three-dimensional space, she exploited the medium of collage. One result was this combination of rose leaves, twigs, cut paper, cut fabric, and, appropriated from elsewhere, an enlarged close-up of highlighted hair.
