Using a shipping container as a camera obscura, the artist created this photograph of the Neptun Shipyard in Warnemünde, Germany, by mounting two large sheets of photosensitized paper on the interior wall opposite an aperture through which an inverted image of the outside world was projected. The exposure, which lasted several hours, resulted in a print that is effectively a paper negative from which the artist does not print any positives; as such, it is a unique work of art that portrays its subject in reversed tones.
