Photograph of a statue of a "bacchante," or a priestess of Bacchus, by Peter Schöpf and formerly in the collection of Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna, Duchess of Leuchtenberg, as attributed in the inscription. Seen from the front, the statue depicts the priestess as a nude female figure, holding a horn in one hand and with a thyrsus resting against her left arm. She rests her elbow on a support to her left.
