Reproduction of an illustration by Karl von Piloty depicting the murder of the poet Ibycus in a forest. Ibycus lies on the ground in a clearing with his arms extended straight out on either side of him, his lyre at his side. The two murderers turn to flee, chased off by a flock of cranes that can be seen in the distance.
