Railroad photographers typically framed their images so that the tracks receded into the distance, alluding to faraway places that were now possible to reach via the railroad. C. A. Czincha used this device in photographing Austria's Arlebergbahn railroad and aqueduct. He exploited the surrounding mountains as a solid framing device, a tactic also used by Carleton Watkins and Édouard-Denis Baldus.
