Photograph of "The Conversion of the Proconsul," a cartoon, or a full-size preparatory drawing or painting, by Raphael and his workshop. The painting depicts a biblical scene in which the apostle Paul strikes blind Elymas, the Jewish sorcerer who tried to prevent Paul and Barnabas from evangelizing the Roman proconsul Sergius Paulus. Witnessing this, the proconsul came to embrace the faith.
