Photograph of "The Sacrifice at Lystra," a cartoon, or a full-size preparatory drawing or painting, by Raphael and his workshop. The painting depicts a biblical scene in which, following the apostle Paul's miraculous healing of a crippled man, the people of Lystra mistake Paul and Barnabas as Hermes and Zeus respectively and present the two with their sacrificial offerings. Paul is seen here tearing his clothes in dismay as he and Barnabas try to stop the crowd, admonishing them for their worship of idols.
