View of the eastern gateway at the tope at Sanchi. The gateway consists of two pillars connected by three lintels, each with Ionic scrolls on each end. Between each of the lintels are three carved uprights. The gateway is covered with relief carvings of figures and animals, including lions, tigers, and elephants.
