View of a painting by Albrecht Dürer entitled "Emperor Charlemagne", depicting Charlemagne holding a sword in one hand and a globus cruciger in the other, and a crown on his head. Two flags hang above his head on either side, one featuring the German Imperial Eagle, the other the Fleur-de-lis. An inscription on both sides of Charlemagne's head reads, "Karolus magnus / imp avit Annis 14". The painting is surrounded by a border with Latin inscriptions throughout.
