The bowl of this silver kylix (wine cup) was hammered from a single sheet of silver, while the foot and handles were fashioned separately and attached. Cups of this shape, with a deep bowl and flaring lip, are distinctively East Greek (from the western coast of present-day Turkey). Known as Ionian cups, they are predominantly found in terracotta and only rarely in silver.
