In this drawing, Ehret employed his typical compositional format-a single stalk placed in the center of the sheet. This is a portrayal of a tree branch that belongs to the laurel family. Due to the slight fading of yellows and thin application of washes, the sheet reveals the delicate graphite underdrawing. We see the minimal description of the six lobed flowers and the broad leaves, but the details have still not been worked out fully.
