Elevated view of a section of Macquarie Street, at what is now the corner of Bridge and Macquarie Streets. On the left is the grounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens with the Garden Palace partially visible behind the trees and a partially-completed truss bridge structure in front of it. On the right is the Chief Secretary's Building, originally the Colonial Secretary's Building that also housed the New South Wales Public Works Department, showing it as a four-story structure with two statues placed on its corner niches. A few people can be seen on the sidewalks.
