Five women in period dress pose for the camera. Two of them, seated at image center, hold props. The left-most woman holds a pair of reading glasses up to her face, apparently absorbed in the book held open on her lap. The right-most holds a fan and gazes off towards image left. Behind them, two women stand. One looks off towards image left and the other looks out at the viewer. To image right, a woman stands with her back to the camera. She is differentiated from the group both by her pose and her dress. All of the sitters wear white flowers or bows in their hair.
