>And the third angel sounded the trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third part of the rivers. . . . >(Apocalypse 8:10) The star resembles a great glowing orb with tongues of flame leaping from its surface; the light red trail of lines left behind emphasizes its downward motion. The illuminator represented the seven great rivers of the earth known to Western Europeans at the time as stylized, undulating blue lines flowing among the rocks of the land.
