The head, depicting a young male, is tilted toward the left and features an elongated face, almond-shaped eyes with thick eyelids, a straight nose with a wide base, and fleshy lips. Flame-shaped locks of hair fan out from a low forehead, leaving the ears uncovered. An incised line divides the nape of the neck into two parts; the locks on the back of the head are roughly molded. This type of hairstyle recalls portraits of Alexander the Great, which were diffused in Magna Graecia and Etruria in the third century B.C.
