Ray K. Metzker's work is at once richly varied in approach and rigorously unified in creative sensibility, revealing his simultaneous interests in the reality of the world and the inventive potential of the photographic process. Born in Milwaukee, WI, in 1931, Metzker graduated with a B.A. in art from Beloit College in 1953 and three years later enrolled in the Master's program at Chicago's Bauhau
