A voice from heaven tells Saint John to take the book from the mighty angel, the winged figure in the center. The mighty angel holding the book then instructs John to eat it and to "prophesy again to many nations, and peoples, and tongues, and kings." To convey the sense of the sequence of events in the miniature, the illuminator repeated the figure of Saint John three times.
