This group of twenty-eight loose beads of varying scale and form is associated with the [Assemblage of Ptolemaic Gold Jewelry](http://www.getty.edu/art/collection/objects/17679/unknown-maker-collection-of-ptolemaic-jewelry-16-greek-225-175-bc/). The group is comprised of three emerald beads, five carnelian beads, four amethyst beads, eight granulated gold beads, and eight hollow gold beads. Conservators have re-strung these beads as a necklace, but they may have originally functioned as elements of other types of jewelry, such as earrings. A single carnelian mushroom-shaped bead or stud with a pierced stem is a unique element within the group and may have been once used as a pendant or an ear stud.
