The golden letters on this page are part of the text of Psalm 1, which began with the large letter *B* on the facing page: "[Blessed is the man] who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly nor stood in the way of sinners nor sat in the chair of pestilence." The fanciful capital letters embellished with stylized foliate flourishes and dots are typical of the display script of manuscripts from Montecassino in central Italy, where this book was made.
