The surface of the grayish, large-grained marble has been discolored by fire damage. The top of the head is somewhat weathered. One bad crack almost splits the upper left side. There are large, flat chips, especially on the back of the head. The inside of the wig is picked for adhesion to the face. The hair is arranged in the style favored by Julia Domna, Dresden type. It is parted in the center with tightly crimped waves pulled back and tied into a large, spiral braided knot at the back
