This historiated border, which shows God creating birds and fishes, expands upon the subject of Creation in the facing miniature. The variety of fowl presented at the bottom of the page and the swirling water from which the fish emerge are particularly delightful features. The text is a prayer devoted to the creation of the first humans and their fall from grace.
