Oblique view of the Chief Secretary's Building, originally the Colonial Secretary's Building that also housed the New South Wales Public Works Department. The building is shown here prior to its second stage of construction, showing it as a four-story building with two statues placed on its corner niches. This view is seen from the grounds of the Royal Botanic Gardens, at what is now the corner of Bridge and Macquarie Streets. Two men, one of whom is dressed in a military uniform, can be seen standing by the gardens' opened gates. The Lands Department Building, with its copper dome, is visible in the distance.
