The introit for Ascension begins in the middle of the page, marked by an inhabited initial *V.* A half-human, half-beast hybrid creature, a cat-like creature, and a man climb among the vine tendrils of the initial. The first line of the text continues in capital letters with *Viri Galilei* (Men of Galilee).
