On the backside of folio 81, an initial *V* encloses the Lamb of God standing on an altar. The lamb elegantly turns its head to gaze at a banner with the red cross on white symbolizing the Resurrection. Based on the similarity of these initials to those found in earlier choir books made for Lecceto and the artist’s apparent interest in the Northern Italian courtly style, it has been suggested that Giovanni painted these initials at the beginning of his career.
