The surface of the plate is decorated with an octopus, a bream with its belly towards the center of the dish, and gurnard with its belly facing the rim. There is also a scallop with part of the red mantle showing between the bream and the gurnard, a starfish just above the octopus, a mussel, and a cockle. The central depression is surrounded by a wave pattern running counter-clockwise. The overhanging rim is decorated with a berried ivy-pattern; the white berries are similar in style to the suckers of the octopus. The underside of the plate is undecorated, except for a black ring painted just outside the top of the stem.
