View of the Argyle Cut tunnel from the intersection before it. A set of stone stairs leads from Argyle Place up to the street above, and to the houses built atop the rock formation. A white picket fence runs along the sidewalk on the left side, where a group of young boys idle. Farther down the street on the right side of the image a horse-drawn carriage passes, and several pedestrians can be seen in the distance beneath the tunnels.
