The first two words of the prayer *Vere Dignum* (Truly fitting) appear as an elaborate monogram of entwined vine scrolls. The use of gold on the purple painted parchment imitates the appearance of the purple-dyed parchment used in luxurious imperial manuscripts of late antiquity.
