Describing himself as a "typotekt" for his training as an architect and his work as a typographer, Piet Zwart also worked as a graphic designer and photomontagist. Beginning in 1911, he designed furniture and interiors, exhibiting his designs in Holland. Through artist Kurt Schwitters, Zwart met El Lissitzky, whose ideas about design and form paralleled Zwart's own. Zwart began to make photographs
