A gently ribbed, hollow foot with a folded rim, attached to the solid stem with three applied knops of crimped and twisted glass, elevates this goblet. A Latin inscription, *VIRTUS LAUDATA CRESCIT* (Virtue grows with praise), is scratched through gold leaf around the lip. These words may represent the owner's personal motto or simply a general sentiment. Similar inscriptions are found on only a few glasses from Murano.
