A man blows a horn from inside an initial *S* , heralding the introit for Pentecost, which opens with the declaration *Spiritus domini replevit orbem terrarum* (The spirit of the Lord fills the whole world). The motif is particularly appropriate to the text, because the Latin word *spiritus* means both "spirit" and "breath."
