The head, tilted to the left on a short neck, presents an elongated face with oval eyes, thickened eyelids, a straight nose, and fleshy lips. Large tubular curls, applied to the head, hang on either side of the face and are arranged radially around the forehead. At the nape of the neck, there is a wide, irregularly shaped hole. The somber expression accentuated by the tilt of the head recalls fourth-century B.C. Tarentine examples, while the unusual hairstyle is reminiscent of that adopted by Ptolemaic queens in the third century B.C .
